The first stage in the project to build the wind farm will be underway this month.
REG Windpower has awarded a contract to Huddersfield-based electrical engineering company Smith Brothers to build the substation.
The substation will be approximately the size of a double garage and is needed to house the site control room, electrical switching and meters.
When the turbines begin generating renewable electricity, they feed power into the substation. From here it is exported to the local distribution network via a 33kV power line running through the site.
Work is due to be completed on the substation in January.
We also expect to award a contract in the coming weeks for the construction of access tracks and foundations. This work is likely to start around Christmas.
We will update this site when we have more news.
