The ground works in preparation for 3 wind turbines at the Loscar Wind Project, Sheffield, are well underway with all access tracks, for the delivery of the turbine components, now laid.
The foundation for turbine 1 has been cast and the foundations for turbines 2 and 3 are under construction and should be cast by the end of May.Works are also underway on the substation, which currently stands at shoulder level and will be completed, ready to receive equipment also by the end of May.All balance of plant works are being carried out by Raymond Brown Cymru .
The three Acciona AW1500 turbines are scheduled for delivery to the site in mid-July.Erection, testing and commissioning of the turbines should be complete by early September 2010 when the turbines can begin exporting clean, green energy direct into the local grid network.
The Loscar wind project was granted planning permission by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council RMBC) and will be the first commercial wind energy project in RMBC.The scheme will provide a total installed capacity of 4.5MW.
